About the press

The best stories
are often the ones
nobody wrote down.

Bramble Lane Press is a small private press, founded in 2026 by Oliver Hart, a New Zealander with a fondness for the stories told around the family table.

Why this press exists

I had my phone
in my pocket.

I looked after my grandmother at the end of her life. We had tea at four because that was when she had always had it, and she talked about her mother, about the work she did, about things she had never got round to telling anyone.

I have not one minute of her voice.

We built the thing I wish someone had offered me: a telephone conversation, with the recording kept for the family. You can explore the kinds of stories we make in our reading room.

The promise is a practical one: your family reads the whole proof and says yes before anything is printed.
